Worship/Music Ministries
Our congregation worships at 9:00 and 10:40 a.m. Our greatest goal in corporate worship is that all people worship God in “spirit and truth.” We recognize, however, that under the rubric of “spirit and truth” there are vast differences in how people express their worship unto God. The manner in which a person might most naturally express their worship unto God is called one’s “cultural-heart expression” which is usually developed early in life, or early in their development as a new Christian. As such, with a multi-generational congregation we have an unlimited variety of cultural-heart expressions among us.
In an effort to respect these differences, our services differ musically. At the 9:00 a.m. hour you will experience Worship I, which is described as utilizing the best songs of the faith from all eras, but with a slight bias toward songs that are familiar, in order to encourage participation. Worship I will be primarily led by a complete instrumental ensemble consisting of the orchestra, piano and organ, along with guitars and rhythm instruments. Song arrangements would vary from those that are up-tempo and rhythmic, to those that are stately and traditional.
At the 10:40 a.m. hour you will experience Worship II, which is described as utilizing the best songs of the faith from all eras, but with a slight bias toward songs arranged in a more contemporary style, emphasizing bass, drums, acoustic and electric guitar. Moreover, to help insure that this service remains theologically grounded, a regular rotation of the great hymns of the faith will be included, but using more contemporary arrangements than you might find in Worship I.
