Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:4-8)

Father, thank you for the gifts that you have given each one of us, and thank you especially for those that serve behind the scenes, as well as up front. As you have given each one of us special skills and gifts, help us seek out where they could be best used. Help us to serve each other with whatever gifts and skills we have. Thank you that in your wisdom you have gifted me uniquely.

FOCUS: Office Staff

• Ask God to help every partner of Southern Gables know where and how they are to serve in his kingdom work in the church. (1 Corinthians 12:14-31)
• We have six secretaries at SGC, a facilities manager and a bookkeeper (see Pastors and Ministries section). Pray for spiritual vitality for them and their families.
• Ask God to grant to our office staff an attitude of humble service toward each other, the people of SGC, and outsiders with whom they come in contact.
• The tasks in the office are varied and sometimes complex. Pray that the staff will have wisdom and skill in serving in these important roles.
• Most of our office staff people are parents and/or spouses. Pray that God will protect their families.

A Christian should always remember that the value of his good works is not based on their number and excellence, but on the love of God which prompts him to do these things.
