Our prayer is to see people from every tribe and tongue worship the one true God in spirit and truth. In addition to a healthy local outreach, we believe we have a responsibility to send workers to the “ends of the earth.” We refer to our international missions activities as “Global Outreach.” We have sent-out, and currently support 19 families, serving in 10 different countries.
Our missionaries fall into three different categories:
- Global Associates – Those that are members [partners] of other Evangelical Free Churches in our area;
- Global Partners – members [partners] of Southern Gables Church
- Global Staff Members – members [partners] of Southern Gables Church that have completed our Missionary Candidate Development Program [MCDP]
More information defining these categories can be found under the Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]. Global Partners and Associates are supported financially as a part of the churches general fund; Global Staff Members are supported by a special promotion called Kingdom Connection.
Most of our missionaries serve overseas in cross-cultural settings; some serve in local ministries that are consistent with our Missions Strategy.
We feel it is very important to maintain a strong personal connection between our congregational partners at home and those workers on the field. Therefore, we encourage a commitment to personal prayer and giving.
In addition to our long-term missionary service, we encourage our partners to participate in cross-cultural Short-term Missions ranging from one week to as much as two years. We feel this is an important part of every person’s spiritual growth and necessary to truly understand God’s love for every created being.
We also recognize that as Christ followers we have a mandate to work for social justice and demonstrate compassion for the needy. We are particularly moved to act when we are able to provide a meaningful and timely response to a crisis anywhere in the world.
Understanding that we are commissioned to “teach them to observe all that I have commanded you”, we provide various training programs focused on learning how to share our faith and understand God’s strategy and passion for world evangelization. As an example, we occasionally host the excellent training program Perspectives on the World Christian Movement.
